Gone Rural is a design pioneer in African handcraft. Collaborating with over 750 weavers in rural areas of Swaziland, it provides it’s women with a sustainable, independent income, while delivering beautiful, authentic products to the world.

More than simply fairtrade, Gone Rural’s artisans are self-employed entrepreneurs and receive, on average, half the wholesale price of every product they produce. Working with UK-born designer Philippa Thorne, they will present a new collection of design-led baskets in the Africa Calling showcase- a prime example of how traditional craft can elevate communities through design innovation.
